The role of the HR leader should be always to motivate the team around him and within all the organization. This is the primary aim and focus, nothing more and nothing less.
2-Good knowledge of the business
You can identify the HR input in the business dynamics and ensure that the people working for you show respect to you and are also focused on the delivery of agreed goals and targets.
3-Focus on productivity enhancement in dollars
The bottom line matters in HR. With a big bit in operational costs you contribution has to be significant or else your bite reduced in reach and size!
4-Proactive attitude before problems arise
You have to know the business (Point 2) to such an extenet that you can pre-empt problems and opportunities before it is a 'fait accompli' You have to be one step ahead all the time and every time.
5-Fair, square and transparent
Your dealings have to be fair with everyone, square with all parties concerned and transparent in nature and scope to ensure that people working for you know exactly what to expect and get for what they input.
Being an HR leader is one of those professions which verges on the artistic side. The character traits of the person are important along with his or her charisma.
